Finally my neck.

I’m getting pretty used to these violent encounters with my osteopath. Twice this week he’s popped my body back into place.

It turns out that twenty + years of martial arts, a career that involves writing at a desk all day and complications from a near-fatal appendicitis isn’t great for your body… Who knew? 🤷

So for the last few months I’ve been trying to correct my posture. Throughout most of my twenties, I suffered chronic back pain. I don’t want my thirties to be the same.

A physiotherapist/osteopath is another example of a service that feeds a starving market…

When your back is in agony, you’re damn sure going to find the one closest to you, check the reviews quickly (to make sure they haven’t paralysed someone in the past), and get yourself fixed before you become completely immobile.

My osteopath (the business owner) told me his clinic was built almost entirely on referrals.

His strategy is simple, and can (should) be applied to all your business endeavours:

Step 1: Find a service or product that relieves someone’s pain (literally, in this case.)

Step 2: Overdeliver and build a reputation for quality (to get more word-of-mouth referrals, reviews, testimonials, etc.)

Step 3: Scale your business to the moon.

Sometimes the most simple strategies are the most effective. So many businesses spend so much effort building elaborate funnels, installing the latest tech and chasing the latest shiny objects…

When in reality, what they really need to do is nail their messaging, perfect their product/service, and deliver excellent customer service. What matters most in the long-term are the happy customers willing to attach their names to your brand.
